This eco tour allows you to explore the habitat in it's natural beauty without disturbing the wildlife. Explore the area's moss-ladened cypress trees, egrets, herons, eagles, alligators, fish and much more. Our launch is located only 30 minutes South of New Orleans. Booking reserves your kayak, life jacket, paddle, map of area, wildlife identification pamphlet, parking and use of boat launch and equipment for 4 hours.
Drive to our launch location located at 9656 Barataria Blvd, Crown Point, LA 70072 (on Google Maps as Marrero, LA). At your designated booking time, you will receive safety instructions and be provided with your equipment. Your paddle begins in Bayou Barataria where you will see the local fishing boats, trawl boats and other commercial boats traveling up and down the bayou, which intersects with the Intracoastal Canal near our launch. A 10-minute paddle from our launch brings you to the entrance to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park's Barataria Preserve. This bayou has large cypress trees ladened with draping moss as well as many local alligators that like to hang out on the banks. Another 20-30 minutes into this paddle will find you at the opening to an old man-made pipe-line canal cut right thru the middle of the Natioanl Park which has been taken back over by nature and provides a scenic tour right to the heart of the area. This bayou is host to all kinds of wildlife. All you have to do is sit back and watch nature entertain you! When you are ready, turn back and on your return paddle, you will find new interesting things as the swamp changes with every minute.
